SECO Surge Protection

I got this email from someone I know here in the Villages who has a SECO surge protector. I thought others may want to know what she encountered after a lightning strike.
— Sandi Testerman

Here is her email:

This is a non-golf matter, but I hope the following information will save some of you some money and grief. On August 20th, lightening hit somewhere near our house, ran up the utility line, through the whole-house surge protector I lease from SECO, and did about $2500 worth of damage.

I contacted SECO about the coverage they advertise, was told to contact the company that makes the devices, and was told by them that there is no coverage for a direct strike. I explained that it did not hit the house and they responded that they define this kind of strike as a direct strike.

I have been in touch with Action 9 TV.  I have also cancelled our lease with SECO and suggested that, if you have a lease, you might consider the same.

If you want to check this out:

John Adams (SECO): 793-3801, Ext. 1367
Bill Parcell (Maker of the device): 321-431-2558
Todd Ulrich (Action 9 reporter): 407-841-9000

Why pay for a device that doesn’t work and for the absence of any coverage?
