Homeschooling Groups
Support Groups, e-Groups, Co-ops, Umbrella schools, Organizations, Newsletters, Magazines, and other networking tools for homeschoolers in Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Delaware County, PA / Chester County, PA / Philadelphia, PA / Montgomery County, PA / Bucks County, PA
Pennsylvania (other counties & state-wide) / Delaware (state-wide) / National
Each group is listed only once, so be sure to check surrounding areas, as many larger groups cover several states or counties.

HOW TO GET YOUR GROUP LISTED HERE:

If you are the contact person for a non-profit, grassroots, DIY type homeschooling support group, network, co-op, or e-group and you would like me to list it here, please E-mail me.  Put “PLEASE INCLUDE MY GROUP” in the subject line and include the county where you are centered and the text you would like me to use.  I'll turn any URLs or email addresses into links.  Please include contact information (first name, email address or phone number, and/or web site).

If your group’s listing needs updating, please E-mail me.  Put “PLEASE UPDATE MY GROUP LISTING” in the subject line and include the text you would like me to use.

If you don't hear back from me in a week or two, please request again - sometimes my life gets busy!

I am happy to list PA and DE homeschool support groups, co-ops, e-groups, informal groups, etc., as well as contact people for informal support networks or special interests.

This page covers the greater Philadelphia area (including northern Delaware), and other areas across Pennsylvania.  I also list state-wide PA and DE groups.  I cannot list groups outside of these two states.

I regret that, as this is a small, noncommercial “hobby” site run by one person, I do not at this time have the resources to list tutors, music teachers, facilities or organizations (museums, nature centers, etc.) offering a class or two for homeschoolers, or most homeschool activities run for profit.  Such information changes frequently and I just don’t have the ability to keep such listings current and accurate.  The best way to find or promote such things is through the local homeschooling networks and support groups listed here.

There’s lots more homeschooling info on my site!  Check out my
Homeschooling Main Page.

Homeschoolers have a lot of choices available. Please take the information you find useful from these pages and ignore the rest.

Many people, including me, will give opinions on the PA homeschooling law.  I believe that everyone should read the law for themselves, read a few opinions about it, and decide for themselves what approach makes sense for their family.

The PA Home Education Law

I might be wrong! I am not a lawyer! Your circumstances may be different! This page, and others on this site, are not intended as legal advice. School districts vary considerably in their interpretation of the home education law. Please double-check legal information with appropriate sources. In particular, the PA Dept. of Ed. may be helpful.

Growing Without Schooling
Alas, GWS has ceased publication. My favorite homeschooling magazine. Not a how-to magazine, rather it's full of articles from parents and kids about their lives - ideas and problems that have come up, what they've tried, and how it worked for them. Thoughtful and wise.

Home Education Magazine
A nice magazine. Preschool through college. Great resources column. Completely different from GWS.

See my School District Problems page for a list of local lawyers and national organizations offering legal support for homeschoolers.
