Relay Carnival - CANCELED: Creekside (in Wallingford) is holding a relay carnival on Tuesday evening, July 7th.  This meet is optional but Coach Andrew and Teri encourage everyone to attend.  It's like a regular meet, but with all kinds of relays. It should be a lot of fun.  Please let Coach Andrew know soon if your child can be there so he can fill out the entry forms and plan the relay teams.

6:00 pm - Warm ups begin. 6:30 pm - Meet begins.

Programs will be sold at the pool’s entrance. Refreshments will be sold in the snack bar, aka Creeky’s Café. Teams will have designated areas for their swimmers. If parents or swimmers want to include a Personal Message in the program, they can complete and send this form with the appropriate fee to Jeanne Platt at 217 Pine Road, Wallingford, PA 19086 by no later than July 1 st.

You can also see the schedule at the Delco Swimming & Diving League web site, which has info about the Meet of Champions, the Elite Meet, meet results, standings, etc.

Note about weather: In general, the home team makes the decision if a meet must be canceled due to weather; they will then let Teri and the coaches know. We swim in the rain, but not in thunder or lightening. Sometimes we wait out the weather; it is difficult to reschedule a meet so we like to proceed if we can. Remember that the weather can vary by location - even if it's bad at your home, it could be fine at the pool. If a meet is canceled early, Teri will let us know via the email group. Otherwise, you can assume we will at least attempting to hold the meet.

Our Coaches:

Welcome to our new swim coaches, Andrew Beggs (abeggs@pdsd.org) and Jen McNulty! If you cannot attend a swim meet, please let Coach Andrew know.  On meet day, he can be reached by phone or text, at 610-742-8114.

Our Board Reps:

Teri Kowalchuk brookhaven1swimclub@comcast.net, is our board rep. Teri takes care of the administrative work for the team. She is the best person to talk to if you have questions during a meet.

Practice Schedule:

Coach Andrew also encourages you to get as many other people you know involved in the swimming team. If your kids have friends that belong to BSC who aren't on the team, bring them along for a few practices to see if they like it.

6/15 (?) thru end of season, Mon-Fri:
-- 8/10/12 and under: 9am - 10am,
-- 12/14/18 and under: 10am - 11am

Team Registration:

All children are invited to join the swim team. Young swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool, freestyle, without assistance. If you have questions, feel free to call Teri or Rick.

There is a $40 registration fee. All fees and registration forms must be received prior to the first meet. Parents please note also that, for insurance reasons, all dues must be paid before any child may participate in any practice. The $40 fee is refundable after a parent has worked one meet timing, scoring placing, officiating, or selling 50/50 tickets.

For every meet we need volunteers to assist as Timers, Runners, and Officials, as well as other jobs. We do appreciate all the help from our volunteers, but more are needed. To encourage volunteers, a $40 per family registration fee is required. Once a family member works as a volunteer at a meet, the fee will be refunded at the end of the swimming season. If a family member does not work as a vounteer by the end of the season, the fee will be forfeited. Experience is not necessary, on the job training will be provided! Please help our teams and volunteer just a little of your time. We appreciate your support and so do the children.

Required Forms:

There are two required forms - make sure you fill out both!

--Please print and fill out this coaches' info form and give it to Coach Andrew at practice. (He will give your email address to Pauline Harding, who will add you to our Yahoo Group so you will get the emails with team info.)

--Also, please print and fill out this registration form and give it to Teri Kowalchuk at practice, with your check for $40.

Team Communication:

Our team uses this web site and a Yahoo email group to send information to team parents. Pauline Harding, hardingpj@yahoo.com, runs both. To join our group, ask Teri or Andrew to get you signed up, or send an email to Pauline at hardingpj@yahoo.com and ask to be added to the group.

Stay on Springfield Road several blocks until just after the trolley tracks. Turn left onto West Maryland Avenue. Travel 1/4 to 1/2 mile on West Maryland Avenue. The entrance to the swim club will be on your right. (NOTE: Spectators should bring a lawn chair, as they are not provided.)

  • Collingdale Swim Club - 300 Rhoades Ave., Darby, PA 19023. (Note: While I believe this is the correct address, Google Maps didn't recognize it and instead directed me to somewhere in Clifton Heights. Do not use this address to Google/GPS directions.)
Travel MacDade Blvd. north to Rhoades Avenue in Collingdale. Rhoades Ave is two miles past South Avenue (MacDade Mall). Pass MacDade Mall and continue through Glenolden and Sharon Hill.  After you pass Clifton & Sharon Aves., you will go past several streets on the left and then make a left onto Rhodes Ave. The entrance to the swim club is directly in front of you. Landmarks to look for as you approach Rhoades Avenue: Sunoco A-Plus on left, Collingdale Firehouse on right, Shaffer Auto Body (N/W corner of Rhoades and MacDade). If you get to the intersection with Chester Pike or Springfield Road you've gone a few blocks too far.

Make a right onto War Trophy Lane and look for entrance to pool. (About 12 minutes from BSC. A limited number of chairs for spectators are available; you may wish to bring your own.)
