Back in 1998, my local astronomy club purchased a small, black & white video
camera known as the AstroVid. As a club member, I was able to borrow this
new gadget and hook it up to my own telescope. I had it for a month and
absolutely loved it!! It was so cool to be able to put the telescopic view of the
moon and planets on a TV screen. I made a short video and presented it to
my fellow club members at the very next meeting.
Soon thereafter, I sold my beloved drum set and purchased the new and
improved version called the Astrovid 2000. Not only could I take live video
recordings of astronomical events, but I could capture still frames to my
computer using a Snappy device. It was a great alternative to film
astrophotography and worked very well on solar system objects. Below are
some examples of the images that I was able to make.
