Bikes that I've owned over the years.

History of an addict.

The 1978 Honda XR75.............................................................................The 1982 Honda ATC185s

Our first bike was a 1978 XR75. My brother bought it off of a friend in 1982 and it was a good bike until he decided that he "needed to fix it" and it never ran again. We still have it. It's in our parents basement.

In 1984 our parents bought us a 1982 ATC185s and as noted on another page, this bike was sold in 1986. I was pulled over by the police and I decided I needed a faster bike. I ended up buying a 1984 ATC250R.

The 1984 ATC250R.......................................................................The 1986 HRC ATC250R

The 84 250R was a great bike until a friend bought the 1985 model and it seemed outdated. I came across a 1986 HRC250R and bought it on the spot. The 86 as AWESOME. It was very fast. A friend clocked it at 107mph, but looking back, I don't know if that was accurate. He was riding along side of me on the road with his streetbike. Anyway, it was a great bike and I wish I had kept it.

The 1986 KX125 (not the actual bike pictured)............................................The "rented" 250R

I traded a 1978 Maico 440 dirtbike for a 1986 KX125 that didn't run. It turned out that the guy that had the KX put a lawnmower spark plug in it, so it didn't run right. I put the right plug in it and it started right up and ran great. I kept it for a summer and sold it for $600.

The "rented" 250R actually belonged to a friend, but he never rode it and he kept it at my house for almost 2 years, so it was like I owned it. It was a good replacement while I rebuilt my HRC250R.

My first street bike (1988 Katana 600)

I bought my first street bike in 1992. I remember my mother saying: "If you get a motorcycle, you are out of this house." Well, she went on a business trip and came home to a motorcycle in the garage. A friend and I drove 20 miles to get it. He never drove a car before and I had never ridden a motorcycle before. I gave him a crash lesson on how to drive my mothers car and we were off. We drove home without incident, fake plates on the Katana, and I was a happy owner of my first motorcycle. I sold it when I moved to Maryland in the mid 1990's.

My current "Woods Bike" 1985 250R..................................My current Racer 1986 250R

The story about these bikes is on other pages. I still have these bikes. I bought them in 1997.

The 1997 CBR900RR....................................The 2002 CBR954RR

After a near marriage, I decided to buy myself a gift with the money I saved for a honeymoon trip. Within 3 days of my breakup, I bought a 1997 CBR900RR. This bike was incredible compared to what I remembered about the Katana. It was incredibly fast, and handled like a dream. I had it for two years when my 2 year girlfriend began to push for marriage. I made a quick decision, and before I was going to commit to marriage, I knew that I would have to get my toys in order before I gave away my ability to EVER buy anything again. I traded in my 900 for the 2002 CBR954RR a week before I bought the engagement ring. If I can say one thing....Holy $h!#. This is still the most amazing bike I have ever owned. It's like riding a dirtbike on the street, but way more powerful. I owned this bike for about a year, but due to an unfortunate event, may the RR rest in peace. Actually it may be a blessing, Honda is coming out with the 1000RR in 2004, so that may be in the cards. We'll see, I now have other commitments that may inhibit that. Last but not least, is two more bikes that I still own....

  The 2001 YZF426 (not the actual bike).............................................................The 1986 ATC250SX

The YZ is a good bike but a nightmare to start when you're tired. I wish that they made an electric start option for it. If you think that I'm weak for saying this, try riding all day and stalling this mother when you're tired and the bike is hot. I'll be laughing back at you. Other than that, it's an AWESOME bike.

I bought the 250SX from a friend for $680 after two other friends passed it up. We really needed a bike to plow out our tracks in the winter, the price was right and the bike is almost perfect. It's a great bike and it does exactly what we needed it for. I recently bought a set of racks for it and a trailer hitch. It will be the all purpose "tow truck" for the race bikes, equipped with a cooler, tool box, plow and hitch to get the wrecks off the ice.
