Only the details specific to this particular sub will be posted here. If you need step by step instructions on building a generic tube sub, please reference the many DIY tube sub sites listed HERE.

Pete's sub is made from a piece
of 20" diameter sonotube cut 41" long.. The endcaps are 1.5"
thick MDF and fit flush inside each end of the tube. The port is a piece of PVC
with a pair of 6"
PNP-AeroPort Flares. The total length of the port including
flares is 29.5" this tunes the tube to 18.4Hz.

There is a 6.25" diameter cutout for the 6" diameter port.

The bottom has a 14" diameter cutout for the 1503. Since this is a downward firing driver it was flush mounted to the end cap.

1-1/4" hardwood dowels are cut 4" long to provide spacing between the driver and the bottom plate. These are attached from inside with 3.5" long deck screws. Epoxy was brushed on the threads of the screws and between the dowels and the endcaps

The bottom plate is attached to the 4" spacers with 3.5" deck screws. This allows easy removal should the need arise to access the driver

Here the BP1503 and the input terminal are test fit prior to painting.

The tube was lined with 2.5" thick acoustical foam. It was attached with hot glue.

The tube was covered with black car headliner material. It was attached with spray adhesive.

This is the beginning of final assembly. All the MDF has been painted with a stain black spray paint. The 1503 has been wired and bolted. The headliner material has been trimmed flush with the end cap.

The decorative oak top piece was constructed from 2-12"X24" pieces of oak edge jointed together. The cutout is enlarged for the AeroPort flare. The oak was stained with a mahagony finish, and sealed with cherry Watco oil.
_____________________________________________________________________________

The oak cap was attached with epoxy and wood screws. The screw holes align with the 12" diameter woofer grill mounting ring. After the epoxy cured the screws were removed and the mounting ring was installed.

The AeroPort flare was attached to the oak with epoxy. It was attached to the PVC port tube with hot glue.
