What we wish for our children...wish

Relief! Relief of symptoms! Relief of frustrations due to communication and social expression deficits! Our mission is to help these children face these hurdles by assisting their families financially. The rapid increase in sick children demands our immediate attention and assistance. More and more children are developing disabilities, with some of the most severe in the autistic spectrum. Research and clinical observation by physicians all over the world have indicated our exposure to toxins in the environment has contributed to our autism epidemic, which is now 1 in 150 children. This epidemic is not just in our backyard, but worldwide.

Autism spectrum children have varied difficulties, which may include understanding and expresssing speech, socializing appropriately with peers, and sensory issues. They may scream constantly, bite others, and chew on non-edible objects. There is little if any eye contact. There may be hand flapping and lining up of objects. Some children rarely sleep, have constant abdominal pain, difficulty focusing, and laugh inappropriately. However, many of these children are highly intelligent, but cannot readily communicate this.
Services include, but are not limited to:
  • speech, physical, and occupational therapies
  • vision therapy
  • social skills classes
  • ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis)
  • auditory sensory integration therapy
  • special dietary interventions
  • alternative medical therapies
Families struggle to pay for the many services needed for their children. Most insurance companies do not pay for these services. Many families are in debt, and have sacrificed their time, sleep, work, bank accounts, retirements, social lives and even their marriages due to the heavy burden a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder can bring.

What we wish for our families is relief. Relief from financial burdens of necessary therapies and medical treatments for their children. These families need relief from the frustration they feel, not being able to provide for their child all the services available to them due to lack of funds. The Autism Relief Foundation’s goal is to assist these children and their families in getting the therapies and treatments they deserve.
