HARTWELL

Arthur's family came from William Hartwell, an English immigrant, who appeared in Concord in 1636.

KNAPP

Mary's mother's family came from Nicholas Knapp, an English immigrant, who arrived in 1630.

DUTCHER

Mary's paternal grandmother was a Dutcher. The original immigrant was from Holland. The colonists called the Dutch "de Duytscher" meaning "the Dutchman" from which the Dutcher name evolved.

KADEL

Mary's great-grandfather was Charles Kadel, a German immigrant, who arrived in the 1850s. His Father was Christoph Kadel. Christoph was christened 13 June, 1787 in Reichenbach, Landstuhl, Pfalz, Bayern. Christoph married Margarita Gaberstich 12 Aug 1814 in Reichenbach..
