Avatars
Want to make every AlphaWorld avatar appear as Santa to you?
Download santa-avatars.zip(3kb) file to your computer.
Extract files using WINZIP.
Extract to C:\ (or drive letter AW was installed to.)
Select the 'Overwrite existing files' and 'Use folder names' options.
If you have ActiveWorlds running, exit and restart AW.
You should see all Santas!
You can also edit the avatars.dat file easily with a text editor like notepad.
For instance, if you are a tourist, you can change the male.rwx and female.rwx's to your favorite citizen's avatar.
There are also many other avatars to choose from in the ActiveWorlds Megapath.
If you want to go back to a seeing normal avatars, then rename avatars-old.dat to avatars.dat in the C:\Active Worlds\cache\art\objects.activeworlds.com-aw directory.
Exit and Restart AW.
IMPORTANT NOTES: You will be the only one who can see your special avatar(s).
What others see you as is determined by which avatar you have selected in the AW Browser Avatar menu.
In order for anyone else to see what you see, they would have to install a copy of your avatars.dat file.
If you add more avatar sections to the avatars.dat file and select one of them in the AW Browser Avatar menu, then everyone else will only see you as a little black triangle. Which isn't all bad.
If you want to save an edited avatars.dat file, back it up in another directory to prevent it from being overwritten by AW.
