Below is a sample awcav file. As you can see it is written in XML. Awcav files are easily modified in any text editor.
There are sections which can be modified. <seqs> refers to movement sequences. Inside this "tag" are the sections [options], [implicit] and [explicit]. As you read through these sections, they are pretty self explanatory.
In the [implicit] section, Left of the equal sign is the action. On the right is the corresponding sequence file.
In the [explicit] section, Left of the equal sign is the gesture number. On the right is the corresponding menu label, sequence file. Menu label 'group' determines the top line menu label for a group of gestures.
After the <seqs> section, are the body elements of the cav. What I do in this section is copy and paste elements between females and males. This allows you to modify a cav beyond what is available in the aw cav editor. Make sure you copy the entire element. Each element has a beginning and ending tag. Try to paste to roughly the same section in the destination cav file. You might want to make a backup of the cav file before modifying. Save successful changes frequently. After making several changes, do another backup. If you make a mistake (cav won't display) and can't fix it, you have to start from scratch.
There are probably other ways to edit cav's. This is just the way I do it. If you know an easier way, let me know.
Text below is CAV 1.0 and is obsolete. However the gesture sections still work in CAV 2.0's.
