Martin Mathias (John Amplas) - Until recently Martin had been taken care of by a relative in Indianapolis. That relative is now deceased so Martin has been sent to Braddock Pennsylvania to stay with his cousin Tada Cuda. Martin has some sort of sickness that makes him crave human blood. He silently observes women and waits for the optimum moment to strike. He claims to be 84 years old but appears to be in his early twenties. Is he actually a vampire or is he a severely disturbed young man, corrupted by the nonsense that has been fed to him on a daily basis by his extremely superstitious family? |
| Tada Cuda (Lincoln Maazel) - Cuda is a very religious man. He owns and operates a local butcher shop and he knows the value of a hard days work. He reluctantly accepts Martin into his home upon a relatives death. He believes that Martin has the "family curse" and will do whatever possible to chase the demons from him. He is very superstitious and resorts to crucifixes, garlic, and holy intervention to protect himself and his granddaughter Christina, even though Martin constantly reminds him that it is only a sickness. | ![]() |

Christina (Christine Romero) - Christina wants out of Braddock at all costs. There are no opportunities there for her and she has grown tired of her grandfather's superstitious mumbo jumbo. Her boyfriend Arthur mistreats her, but he represents her only chance of leaving town. She is sympathetic towards Martin, yet does not know the true depth of his evil. |
| Arthur (Tom Savini) - Arthur is a hard working blue collar kind of guy. He works at the local shipping yard as a mechanic and has dreams of leaving Braddock as well. Cuda tries to dissuade Arthur from having a relationship with Christina because of the curse that their child may carry. He doesn't know what to make of the Martin situation, but at the same time doesn't seem very concerned about it either. | ![]() |

Father Howard (George A. Romero) - Saddened by the state of things in Braddock, and the destruction of his church, he too wishes to leave town. He clearly represents a new generation of religious interpretation, and doesn't seem to care too much about the old religion that Cuda speaks of. |
| Mrs. Santini (Elyane Nadeau) - Bored by her mundane household existence, Mrs. Santini is desperate for someone to communicate with, and to pay her some much needed attention. Martin temporarily provides her that release, but at what cost? | ![]() |

Radio Station Host (Mike Gornick) - Martin needed an outlet for his frustrations so he decides to call a local radio show and tell all. The radio station host humors Martin and before he knows it, he has a hit on his hands. He continues to egg Martin on (they call him "The Count") in hopes to keep him talking. People all over Pittsburgh begin to call in to hear the adventures of the young vampire. |
