Standing rules
Senior Men's Golf Association

Annual Meeting (7/15/98): The Annual meeting will be held at or near the end of October at a time not in conflict with the Fall MISGA trips.

Annual Dues: The annual dues of $15 for the year will remain in force until the amount is changed by resolution at an annual meeting.

Delinquent Dues: Names will not appear on the SMGA membership roster or on any sign-up roster for Association activities until dues have been paid.

Tee-off Time: Tee times for regular play of the SMGA will be Wednesdays at 8:30 A.M. from May 1 to October 31, 9:00 A.M. during April, and 9:30 A.M. during the rest of the year. Participants should check in at least 30 minutes before scheduled tee time so that the Tournament Director has adequate time to make adjustments in teams for "no shows" and cancellations.

Sign-up Sheets (local play): For regular play of the SMGA on Wednesdays at PGCC, sign-up sheets will be posted one week prior to each Wednesday's play. Members should sign for play by Sunday noon prior to the event.

Sign-up Sheets (MISGA): For MISGA events, sign-up sheets will be posted two weeks prior to the event. Members should sign for play by 6 P.M. Friday prior to the event. Tee time for home MISGA events will be 9:00 A.M. shotgun. Tee times for away MISGA events are determined by the host club, and will be posted on the sign-up sheet. Participants in MISGA events should show up and register at the designated golf course at least 30 minutes before scheduled shotgun start as a courtesy to the tournament director and the other participants.

Speed of Play: It is the duty of every SMGA golfer to keep up with the game in front and not just ahead of the game behind.

Dress Code: SMGA members will honor the dress code for PGCC, with the further proviso that no jeans will be worn at MISGA events, either home or away.

SMGA Champion: (1/5/00) A member of the SMGA must participate in a minimum of eight non-MISGA SMGA events to be eligible for the SMGA Championship or Flight rankings. The sum of the best two of up to four designated "individual by flight" scores, both gross and net, will be used to determine the overall SMGA Gross and Net champions, as well as the Gross and Net winners for each of four flights. However, the flights producing the overall winners will not have alternate flight winners. The overall winners are the flight winners in their respective flights.

Cancellations: For MISGA cancellations, call Carl Ridenour, 301-946-6188. For cancellations for SMGA, or regular play, call Alan Wilder, 301-776-5412.

Urgent Notifications: Special events requiring quick notification of all members will be handled by the Telephone Notification Committee, or Phone Tree. This can be initiated by calling the Chairman Tom Bresson, 301-490-4187 or the Co-Chairman, Wayne Judy, 301-953-2797.

Alternate Tee for Hole # 17 (7/15/98): For local SMGA play, if a person's age plus his course handicap is 95 or greater, then he may drive from Red tee on hole # 17. All players must drive from White tees on all other holes.

Tournament Cancellations (7/15/98): No scheduled SMGA events will be canceled without the consent of a majority of those showing up.  Individuals not wishing to play have the option to cancel.

Prize Money: For each regular SMGA golf event, each participant will contribute $4.00, $3 of which is awarded as prizes, and $1 of which goes to SMGA treasury. Additionally and optionally, there may be a $1 Kicker event; e.g., Closest to Pin.

Blind Draw Prize Treatment: If a blind draw is required, that portion of any gift certificate prize will go to the SMGA treasury. This applies only to SMGA events, not MISGA, where the entire prize pool must be paid out. However, during SMGA off-season (Nov 1 – Mar 31), the cash prize will be divided among the team members.

Alternate Tees for Age 90 and over: For SMGA and MISGA events, golfers aged 90 or over may use the forward (red) tees on all holes.

Entry fees for state tournaments: the SMGA treasury will reimburse one-half the entry fee for all who qualify for either the state Past Presidents (ABCD) or the state Two-man Team tournaments.

SMGA Use of Red Tees: A player who has attained the age of 80 has the option of playing from the forward (red) tees. If he chooses this option, his course handicap will be computed using a slope of 110, based on the “USGA Ratings Adjustment From Unrated Tees.” Then the multi-tee adjustment will be applied, which will reduce his (red tees) course handicap by 3 strokes, the rounded difference of the course ratings.
