Pfc. David Amendola's hometown was Chicago, Illinois. He entered the service at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on April 6, 1944 at 28 years of age. He took basic training at Camp Fanin, Tyler, Texas with Company D of the 63rd Training Battalion. He recieved his parachute training at Fort Benning, GA. Pfc. Amendola arrived in Europe on December 7, 1944. He served as a BAR man. Pfc. Amendola took part in the Ardennes and Rhineland and Central European operations.
