Pfc. James E. McManus was originally from Worcester, Massachusetts. He enlisted on January 16, 1941 in the US Army National Guard, Yankee Division in Worcester and then was mobilized with the Regular Army.  Subsequently, he became a Paratrooper in the 82nd 504 Co. B.  He made every jump except D-day.  During Operation Market Garden he was captured on September 27, 1944 and was held as a Prisoner of War at Stalag 7A located in Moosburg, Bavaria.  He was reported as returned to Military Control March 25 , 1945. He was liberated by 476th FA along with Patton's 3d Army.
