Pfc. William L. Gray enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1942.  He was originally from Charlotte N.C.  He served as a Sgt. with the 1st Coast Artillery before attending jump school at Fort Benning, GA.   Pfc. Gray was killed on June 6, 1944 during the Normandy invasion.  He was awarded the Purple Heart.
