Brando's Feature: Odd Trivia
After 6 clues we have a correct answer! Doug Stalnaker of Woodstock, Virginia submitted the winning entry shortly after the August 15th clues were posted. Yes, Doug is the same person who got the earlier Odd Trivia correct! Clearwell Castle is the common thread between the aforementioned artists. Led Zepplin, Sweet and Badfinger all stayed at Clearwell Castle at some point in their careers. According to the book, "Rocks Movers and Shakers" written by Dafydd Rees and Luke Crampton, Sweet took up residency at Clearwell Castle in 1977. I was doing a search for more Clearwell Castle information a month or so ago and came across a Led Zepplin link. I looked at it and it mentioned that band stayed there in the spring of 1978. They recorded demos for their upcoming In Through the Out Door LP. The site also featured a couple of Real Audio songs that were recorded in the castle (basement, I believe). Mike has made mention he enjoyed his stay at the castle, and that Gaynor gave birth to their son, Owen, while staying at the castle.
