Investigate the Carter Administration!
[Letter submitted to President Ronald Reagan, 3 February 1981]

Mr. President:

Today I heard on TV the shocking news about the leaks of information on the Stealth Aircraft which, according to UPI, were initiated by the Carter Administration to make Carter look better in last year's campaign.

If this is true, such action, in common language, is treason. I am sure you will give priority to a full investigation of this matter. The guilty could be Carter himself, or members of his Administration with or without Carter's approval; or it could be that Carter knew about it but did not investigate and punish the guilty party, in which case he is as guilty as if he had done it himself. Whomever your investigation will find guilty must be punished to the fullest extent of the law without personal, political, and/ or other considerations.

For a long time I have had serious doubts about many happenings in our recent past. Were they all really so "clean" as presented to us by Carter? For instance: According to news reports, Carter had been informed by members of our Iranian embassy and also Canadian sources about what was to happen to our embassy in Tehran. Why, as President, did he not act appropriately? And how about the Billy/ Libyan affair?

Carter and his Administration did too much damage to our country, in every respect, that it would be unfair to the American people to let them "get away with it" without punishment, and to reward Carter with the ex-president's salary and all the other privileges accorded to a former President.

In my opinion, the entire four years of the Carter Administration ask for a full Senate or even special-prosecutor investigation.

Respectfully yours,
Waclaw Bakierowski.
