Anti-War Demonstrations
Letter to the Grand Rapids Press, sent 19 January 1991
It is indeed very significant that Americans who have immediate members of their families in the Persian Gulf do not demonstrate against the war, but in support of our forces, and I salute them for their patriotism.
Many other thousands demonstrate to show their moral support for our forces involved in this war, and their efforts are to be recommended.
But then, many other thousands shamefully demonstrate for "peace" which, in their stupidity and shortsightedness, they apparently think can be accomplished by withdrawing American forces from the war theatre. On TV I saw one of those obnoxious characters screaming "I am against the war I am against everything!" Those peacenicks deserve open contempt!
I took part in World War II, and I assure you that I am, in principle, against war, and especially if such a confrontation is instigated in the name of a "New World Order" to further the interests of the international banks, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Trilateral Commission. However, as long as our troops are actively fighting and dying, I consider every demonstrator against the fact of American involvement as a traitor under the leadership of somebody who is not worth to be called an American, but who is rather an enemy of America. (Russian Communist?)
Those peacenicks should be made to understand that they owe thanks to our patriotic forces, who defend this Republic, including the right to open speech and demonstrations. Therefore, it would only be right to supplement our voluntary forces with draftees, including all those peacenicks, to make them part of the defense that assures them the right to demonstrate.
[Editor's Comment: The peaceniks could be used to clear minefields.]
