Letter to Sen. Jesse Helms
[Submitted 19 March 1984]

Dear Senator Helms:

Thank you for your book The Ramparts We Watched. You asked for my opinion, and I answer you indirectly.

I became a prisoner of war in Germany after the Warsaw Insurrection. The big American hero Roosevelt refused to help us, and the Russians watched us across the river as Warsaw died! After the liberation I did not return to Poland because that same Mr. Roosevelt had committed 130 million people (including my homeland Poland) into Soviet slavery in Yalta.

In 1952 I came to America. For about one year I very carefully observed everyday life and happenings, and then I went to the FBI. After telling them what I wanted to talk about the Soviet Fifth Column, I was given the opportunity to talk to an agent who introduced himself as a former Army Intelligence Major. I told him what I had observed, and what I had clearly identified as communist-instigated steps, and I warned him that the Soviets would do everything to destroy America from the inside, that they would work in schools, colleges, unions, news media, churches, on intellectuals and professionals, to poison the mind of the people and to break their spirit, so they would rather surrender than fight. His response was very significant: Mr. Bakierowski, we know this. However, reports sent by the FBI on this subject to Senators and Congressmen get thrown into the waste-paper basket because these matters are unpopular with their constituents. He then asked me to use my experience and go into politics and to scream about the things I had mentioned to him. I did not go into politics, but I screamed for the past three decades.

Over the years, the truth of my warning became more and more evident, and today I am ready to make a diagnostic evaluation of the situation. If America does not wake up, America will die! I consider President Reagan as the last chance for America. What if the stupidity of the majority of American voters elects one of the now-running Democrats, or maybe [Ted] Kennedy? (What morality did the Massachusetts voters show by re-electing Kennedy to the Senate after Chappaquiddick?) Anyway, all of the above-mentioned would make the welfare recipients happy at the cost of cutting the military budget. If President Reagan will not be elected for a second term, that, Senator, will mean that the White House will soon no longer be the seat of an American President, but of a Soviet commissar, and as the late Congressman McDonald warned in his film, 30 million Americans will immediately be executed.

Senator, enclosed are a few samples of my past writings. I know that you are very busy, but if you find a moment to read them, you will see how similar our thinking is. The only difference, if I may say so, is that I use much harsher words for the truth — what you, being a U.S. Senator, cannot do.

The "peanut" president gave away our Panama Canal. Instead of being hanged for treason, he now collects presidential retirement pay....

Then there is big brother Rockefeller and his CFR, with their scheme to form a "one world government," in preparation for which we have the U.N., and now already a branch of Rockefeller's bank in Moscow....

Today in the news I heard about the Soviets' navy build-up in Cuba. That is a consequence of "cute" President Kennedy's decision to liquidate the Cuban freedom fighters by refusing to give them the promised air support....

Senator, these are not coincidences — "in all that craziness there is a method!!!" — the Soviet method. For America time is running short, and the danger is growing every day.

I wish you success in whatever you do for America, and I hope that I will still be around to see and enjoy it.

Yours in the name of Freedom for Poland, America, and the World,
Brig. Gen. Waclaw Bakierowski, P.R., K.W.
Minister and Deputy Prime Minister [Polish Government in Exile]
