Writes about Russia and war
[Letter as printed in the Holland Sentinel, 25 February 1980]

Will there be war and when?

In my view, Russia today is almost able, thanks to America's policy of disarming, to beat both America and China, America's potential ally, at the same time. Even if Russia were to beat both, however, it would suffer severe damage. In other words, it would be a Pyrrhic victory for Russia.

Looking at things very optimistically, I project that the current situation will continue for the next one to three years. Thereafter, it will change radically to the disadvantage of Russia. It will take America several years to reach the point where Russia would not like to risk war and it will take China approximately just as long to get ready. In view of these facts, it is logical that Russia should start a war before the next one to three years!

There is, however, another side to this picture. First, for psychological reasons, Russia has an atavistic horror of China and an idolatrous admiration for America, combined with an inferiority complex. Also, Russia does not want to destroy America, but to use it as its slave in industry, technology, agriculture, etc., to achieve its goal of global empire.

Now my question: Will there be war and when? In view of the military situation, Russia should be starting a war between now and three or so years from now if it hopes to win. America has just woken up. After about three years, time will be working for us and we will be stronger with each coming year.

If Russia does not go to war now, for the reasons mentioned above, it cannot even dream of winning. Let us hope and pray that Russia will make that particular mistake. Surely, after the many mistakes which we have made in our politics during the last few years, Russia is "entitled" to make this particular mistake!
