This whole thing reminds me of the old couple up the
street. When I was a kid (back around the time of the invention of dirt
)
we lived in a neighborhood back in the midwest. There was a house up the street
with a double lot that had a yard that was big enough to play baseball and a
big oak tree that you could climb and see the whole neighborhood. Anyway, one
day the house sold and an old couple bought it. One of the first things that
they did was to put up a chain link fence and informed us kids to keep out of
thier yard. I guess that the yard looked a bit nicer without baselines and
nobody climbed the tree anymore and it was thier yard. They did make a good
target of themselves every Halloween when the toilet paper came out, though.
Don't you know that I wish that we had a RS2477 type rule back then. We made
that area into a neighborhood for a lot of years before they decided that it
would be a good one to move into. If they didn't like it there was lots of
other places that they could have bought that didn't have a ball diamond in the
back yard. I still think they they closed off the lot to be mean as much as
they wanted more grass to mow. It's not like their yard was any smaller than
anyone elses. I guess that some people think that they that have to shove thier
affluence down other peoples throats and then act surprised when they get
TP'ed.
