This CD includes the original version of "Pine Top's Boogie Woogie" which
he recorded in late 1928.This recording marked the first known use of the
phrase in lyrics of "Hold it now/Stop/Boogie Woogie!" -- which has been used often by recording artists over the years. He recorded a second version in early 1929. However, just weeks later, on March 15, 1928 his bright career came to an abrupt halt when he was shot and killed by a stray bullet during a dancehall fracas. He was just 25 at the time of his death, leaving behind a legacy of only 11 recorded tracks. |
