Public Knowledge Rumors

Janurary 24, 2009

The island of New Orleans has drifted several miles away from the mainland. The NOPD have been preventing all boats from leaving the island, going so far as to shoot down civilians to stop them. In the past week the police have been acting as a "military force" to Mayor Garrison, aggressively keeping order and civility among citizens. In the past 12 hours the NOPD have been raiding homes and removing all guns. No Kindred's home was raided.

All major media station have stopped broadcasting however, some small local channels are attempting to keep people informed. Very little is being reported about the mainland.

Many churches are offering prayer groups and shelter to those who are in need. Religious fanatics have taken to the streets preaching about the end of the world.

While the power was out for a shot while, Bainbridge Lights was able to get the power back up and running. Some structural damage has occurred on the outskirts of town, primarily in the west swamps, but the city at large has not been damaged.

There was a lot of crime in the first few nights however, when the NOPD started taking back control criminal activity was almost eradicated throughout most of the French Quarter and Uptown. Small pockets of high crime areas still exist and people who enter those places risk their lives.

Many of the people are attempting to continue a normal life, opening their small businesses and going out at night. Many people have taken to heavy drinking and other self annihilating behaviors.

Important Recent Events

The Camarilla's Fall from Grace

At the last gathering Prince Celik announced that the Camarilla held a conclave in Baton Rouge, a known Sabbat domain. The Camarilla announced that the Sabbat as a whole was forgiven of all their crimes and were welcomed back into the Camarilla. The leaders of the Sabbat accepted taking most of the sect with them. A few groups of neonates, on both sides, objected causing minor fighting to break out. A few Kindred lives were taken but the majority were happy to hear of an end to the centuries old battle.

Prince Celik, however, was not pleased and was not willing to remain a part of this abomination. He remains Prince of New Orleans but no longer calls himself Camarilla. He will uphold those traditions that are older than the Camarilla and are necessary to keep Kindred safe. He no longer acknowledged the old Camarilla Status or Court but instead chose a select few to server as his council. This council will be the Regents of the city and with Celik keep the Traditions and punish those that would break them.
