Hamscope in Action

Ran into this free program online called "Hamscope". Although it must certainly have many capabilities beyond what I have learned, I immediately recognized its value for tuning in CW signals. Also I can see significant use for it in aligning a QRP receiver.

This movie shows my Oak Hills Spirit II rig on 40m - the first few seconds are no signal, just band noise (You can acually see the frequency response of the RX and built in four-pole audio filter on this rig here!).

The passband center of the whole RX chain appears to be about 900 Hz - that is as the receiver is presently aligned.
After the first few seconds of the movie I tune 'across', and then on to a CW signal and you can see it rise and fall in the passband of the RX. The yellow reference line is 900Hz.

What a great and free tool. Thanks to KD5HIO and AE4JY for a terrific addon to the shack.
