The HRMS Bands exist as exploratory classes for grades 6, 7 and 8 concert bands, and jazz bands for grades 7 and 8. Concert bands are open to anyone with band instrument experience, or by interview with Mr. Cohen for those who wish to begin instruction on an instrument. Jazz bands are open to concert band students, plus the general school population for those who play instruments not normally found in concert band, such as piano, bass or guitar. The HRMS Bands offer quality instrumental music instruction, performing high quality music for concert band, arrangements of classical music, as well as popular selections from the last 50-or-so years. We perform 2 concerts a year, plus an adjudicated jazz festival, and the 8th grade concert band performs for either an adjudicated festival or a clinician who can help us prepare for a performance.
