About Steve Caddick

I first picked up a tenor banjo in 1959, when I was 9 years old. My Dad, Bill Caddick, was a tenor banjo player and I learned most of it from him.

We worked together for many years. During the 1970’s we did sing-a-longs and played banjos and guitars in clubs and restaurants. Later, we enjoyed the banjofests in New England. They are something we looked forward to every year and I still do!

In 1969, I helped to form the “Parson’s Plunkers”. The Rev. Bob Ryder was our leader and I was musical director. I was with the Rev. for 28 years until he passed away in 1998. We reformed as the “Red Suspenders”. I also have a group of my students called “Steve’s Other Band”, the S.O.B’s. I am very proud of their accomplishments!

I am a founding member of the Stone Street Strummers Banjo Band.
I provide notation and sound files for jazzbanjo magazine. I am thrilled to be the tenor banjoist who does this.

All of the harmony parts on this CD were created by Eddy.
This CD project is a result of our close friendship and our desire to make a recording of our music.
