Thoughts on the chakras and frequencies.
Each time we have extended our observations to
smaller length scales and higher energies,
we have discovered new layers of structure.

Subject: Thoughts on the chakras and frequencies.
In a workshop last night the teacher
was unable to elucidate
the relationship
between wavelength and frequency. Any comments?
Since the chakras have colors (wavelengths) associated with them, it is
possible to calculate the energy associated with them. This is all off
the top of my head, so take it with a grain of salt. I have forgotten
so much of the things that matter.
I would like to attempt to explain to left-brained folks how to do the
numbers so that they can work it out for themselves instead of having
it presented to them with all the interesting details left out. Tell me
if this stuff makes any sense to you. I want to know whether I'm looking
in the right direction.
Technical people have a different way of looking at the same things.
Matter and energy are NOT a duality, they are merely the result of
using different measuring tools on the same phenomenon. Or measuring
different aspects of the same whole, like the blind men and the
elephant. :-)
Einstein's equation E=MC(2) shows exactly how much energy is contained
in matter. If nuclear weapons were able to harness 100% of that
energy, the tests on Bikini Atoll in the 1950s would have taken out
the whole Marshall group, not just one island. Funny they should
name a bathing suit after it.
Duality in that sense is at the foundation of Western thought, and
based on the Classical Greek Aristotlian philosophy. Aristotle
obscured the true
nature of the world by teaching us to conceptualize phenomena as A or
*not* A, black or white, good or bad, matter or energy, you or me. The
limitation is cultural. You see, A and not-A must both exist if either
one is to exist.
It can be argued that the limitations are imposed in part by the
granularity of language. There are lots of examples of this. The one
that comes to mind is snow. Ok, we have snow, powder, slush, sleet.
The Inuithave over a dozen words for various consistencies, textures and
wetness of snow. Snow is important to them, so they perceive details
in it that we don't think about.
It is enlightening to attempt to resolve dualities into to continua, to
discover the existence of the shades of grey. "When winter and summer
are the same to you, you have surpassed the contradictions." Hmmmm,
was that J.G. Bennett? Who wrote The Look Within?
There are pyramids in Egypt, South America and China. They are pretty
much 1/3 of the globe apart. It has been theorized that they formed a
network that used the magnetic field of the earth as it spun through the
solar wind. A lot like the armature of a generator. The pyramids were
along the equator then.
There is considerable scientific evidence that in written history the
length of the day changed. It's laid out in Velikovsky book, the name
of which escapes me. The sun *did* stop in the sky when Joshua sounded
the horns. The resulting earthquake took down the walled city. Around
the globe different cultures' history books say that the astrologers
couldn't predict any more, and it was because the length of the day had
changed.
It was probably because of a near-miss by a large meteor or comet.
The same cataclysm also changed the earth's axis to 27 degrees. This
created seasons and it also put the pyramids' energy source out of
business by moving them off the equator. It probably caused a long
winter from the dust, an ice age.
The Egyptians built new pyramids over and over trying to get the system
working. The Aztecs began sacrificing humans on theirs.
The biblical explanation of the Ark of the Covenant, if you build it,
yields a capacitor, something like a starter coil. Or a battery. I
forget how that's related, and I can't even guess how the Hebrews got
it. I should know this. Maybe Pharoah let them go in part because the
reason for building the pyramids was lost in antiquity.
The frequency of the earth is about 7Hz. The military uses that
frequency to communicate, it's called the ELF system. You probably
heard about it when the people in Minnesota were fretting about it....
Extra-Low Frequencies are believed to cause cancer. I have some
interesting gov't reports from the 1980s.
Whales communicate over long distances by using that frequency. Or
they did. Now there is so much noise in the ocean that they can't
communicate, and it's driving them to extinction.
Wavelength and frequency are two different ways of looking at the same
thing. High school math is always in the "x domain", meaning you deal
with lengths. In engineering you turn it inside out and work in the
frequency domain. It's a hell of a lot easier to do math in the
frequency domain once you get the hang of the conversion.
The frequencies found in the universe range from 0 to infinity cycles
per second - though infinite frequency has infinite energy so maybe
there is a cutoff point somewhere? Think of that armature,
no spinning = no energy. So the AVERAGE frequency = (0 + infinity) / 2.
That's assuming totally balanced energy, or the same energy at all
frequencies. In practice, we can only be aware of a small range of
frequencies. Electronics can't measure much below 1/2 cycle per second
because of technological limits. The frequencies we can see are called
visible light, another limitation.
Mathematics is a philosophy that enables you to go beyond the
limitations of your senses.
Science is a methodology, not a philosophy. Science is like a cookbook
for "proving" the things you believe are right. Think of a lawyer
asking yes-or-no questions. They can prove anything they want using
*any* witness just by asking the right questions.
I've given my memory a good workout tonight.

That is correct. I have more info on it, except I'm on the way out the
door.
You can also mess with "harmonics", or portions of a wavelength. For
example, if a person needs to clear their red chakra, but they are
resisting, you can surround them in the color that represents 1/2
wavelength or even a 1/4 wavelength and it will have an effect.
Also, for clearing, people do eat, drink, and wear clothes of that
color to clear.
I'll respond more on this when I get back.

I should clarify that what I'm asking is whether it would be useful to
interpret some of the metaphysical concepts into precise mathematical
terms - without the language of math.... [the descriptions are inadequate]
I'm a math freak, I know about harmonics, and even how to construct
repetitive waveforms with a Fourier series.
Well, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. So I'm
considering writing a book.
I would like to provide non-technical people with enough information so
that, if nothing else, they know that wavelength and frequency are
related but not equivalent. Then, as I learn more I want to tie it in
to chakra balancing and to the intrinsic freqs of different essential oils.
And I want to free it from the limitations of Western thought. The first
thing is to remember that an octave in a major scale is only one way to
play music. We use two - the other is the minor scale. The Greeks had
what, a dozen? Lydian, Mixolydian - I forget, music theory is 3 decades
in
my past. Some Asian music uses *microtones*. As ten-fingered engineers we
sometimes use decades instead of octaves. The universe itself tends to
natural logarithms rather than octaves. So simplifying chakra balancing
to
fit Western music just because Western music sounds "natural" to us as
Westerners is rather ethnocentric.
I could get into white noise and white light, especially going back to the
granularity issue - a rainbow consists of the spectrum, not of discrete
colors. Further, there is an entire spectrum of colors that our eyes can't
perceive. Fitting the chakras into the visible light spectrum leaves and
intriguing possibility for layers and layers of extracorporeal chakras in
successive octaves. Like different radio stations, different realities.
Do you think I have the makings of a book here, or have I completely gone
off my nut?

Leslie,
I think what you are talking about is fascinating, and I would probably
pay as much as $19.95 for a copy. I myself have always wondered about
what you are writing, and would love some charts, comparisons, etc.
However, I am AD and like information. W* likes the idea as well,
however she is AD too. I'd certainly give it some time ...

I'm also AD. That is why I want the MATH, not vague allusions to
"scientific studies".
I think I'll write an abstract and a chapter outline and run it past
some of the publishers I review Bipolar books for.
So the work-in-progress will be at http//mywebpages.comcast.net/banth/reiki/
which is, in itself, a work-in-progress. Isn't everything?
FYI, the whole convo is on the page, with your names changed to J* and W*.
If that isn't acceptable, let me know.
Thanks for your input. I'll let you know as the framework takes form.

As if to validate my thoughts, here is my horrorscope for the week:
Dear BANTH, here is your Weekly Horoscope for Nov 25 to Dec 01
There is a certain quality about the planetary and cosmic influences
this week that is drawing you into a very different frame of
reference. You adore working with all kinds of facts and
information, but over the course of the coming days the kind of
material that comes your way either by word of mouth, or some other
format, bears the hallmark of genius and is very different and
innovative. If you have been working on a way to communicate a
certain message, perhaps a sales presentation, a marketing scheme
or even the format of a book or screen play, then don't limit
yourself to the tried and trusted, as this often gives a tired and
dreary approach. Get right in there with something that has
attitude and juice, and this is especially possible for you now as
Jupiter trines Mercury conjunct Pluto. Knowledge, power, and
earning a great deal of money all go hand in hand. Get your spiel
across in the right way and you could be laughing all the way to
the bank. Another point in your favor is that people are willing to
extend the hand of friendship and give you anything you need to get
you started. The same is true in love - suddenly everyone wants to
date you.
Best wishes for this week, from the Astrologers of
