The first Cox Reunion was held in 1904 and they continued until the 1960's although in the the last decade it was known as the Noah Cox(Benjamin's grandson) Reunion.

Naomi mentioned going to the reunion in many of her diaries. There are several group pictures from the reunions that are still in the family. I cannot date the one but it had to be taken before 1910 as Noah Cox was still alive. If you are reading this sentence I may have figured out how to add the photo to this page. Click here to see the oldest Cox reunion photo that I know of. The pre-1910 picture has been scanned and I would be glad to email it to you if you are interested. I would love to be able to identify more of those 50 + Coxes. It appears to be Noah, Thomas, John, Charlie and Manson and their families...

I have copies of reunion notes from 1925 onward detailing births, marriages and deaths in the family. Also special events were noted such as who won the little girls race or who was on the entertainment committee. During World War II the many who served their country were noted. Following the war was the rash of marriages and in the next years, many new Cox descendants.

BOOMERS!!
THIS IS YOU!! THIS IS YOUR FOLKS,YOUR AUNTS AND UNCLES!!

BOOMERS' KIDS!!
THIS IS YOUR FOLKS AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS!!

This is your old cuz Barb, one of the 30 births noted in the 1948 Reunion notes. There must be lots of us around. Drop me a line. Tell me some stories!
I hope you enjoy this your history.... from the old generations who ventured into the wilderness and made something of the hills, forests and swamp and their sons and daughters who went off to wars, some of them giving up their lives, to protect their dreams that they conceived and built. As, I remind my son sometimes, needlessly, "That's Real."
When you look around and read the newspaper, remember that there are things worth the strife and the striving and worth preserving and protecting.

As a final thought, deadly serious, although almost laughing as the words come to mind, remember the old COX MOTTO, as told to me by my father-
"Non carborundum illegitimi."
