A Person You Know Well: Prewriting Exercises

 

 

1.         What animal does ________ remind you of?  What food?  What color?  Why?

 

2.                  What would ________’s face, body, and manner tell if you knew nothing else about him

            or her?

 

3.                  Who would play ________ in a movie about him or her?  Describe an important scene in

            the movie.

 

4.         Imagine that ________ is two people or has two sides.  Describe them and tell how      they work together or against each other.

 

5.         Imagine that you believe character and behavior come from imitating significant role        models when young.  Who (or what sorts of people) do you suppose ________          imitated? 

 

6.         Think of an important situation when you were with ______.  Close your eyes and         try to

            bring the experience back.  Describe it.  Now pretend to be ________ and       describe that

            situation from his or her viewpoint.

 

7.         What weather does ________ bring into the room?
