Without a doubt, we know that you can add to the list with things/placesyou discover on your own; but here are some recommendations:

Windsurfing Approximately 100 yds - two buildings south of the Sugar Beach Resort is the Kealia Beach Center where you can rentwindsurfers (includes free lessons), Hobie cats and charter boat activities.

Para-sailing From boats leaving from Lahaina.

Snorkeling:
At Molokini.  Take a charter boat from the Maalaea YachtHarbor.  Molokini is a crescent shaped island/volcano crater thatis also a  fish preserve about 4 miles away.
At Ulua Beach between Intercontinental Hotel and the WaileaBeach Hotel-- Ulua Beach has showers, rest rooms, lawn and sandy areas.
At Olowalu (Mile post marker 14 on way to Lahaina).
At Flemings Beach in Kapalua.  (Turn left to public parkingimmediately after Napili Kai Beach Club.  Has rest rooms and showers).

Sight Seeing Drives
Historical places to site-see:  Lahaina, Paia, and Hana.

Drive to Hana & The Seven Sacred Pools  (an ALL DAY trip evenif you leave early).  Suggest taking a  lunch.   Take the Hana Highway, 54 miles of CURVING highway (top speed of 35 mph). Enroute, stop and brouse the historic town of Paia.  Also plan tostop in Hana and visit the hotel and local stores.   See if youcan find Charles Lindberg's grave.  It's a challenge.  Thereare  markers, but it is beyond the Pools just a couple of miles. Ask a ranger at Pools or any  locals you pass on the road. Note: Partsof the road beyond Lindberg's grave are unpaved/dirt and it is stronglyrecommended that you return on the same 54 miles of road so plan your daylightdrive accordingly.  ( if it is muddy you will find it difficult drivingand should you encounter car troubles, there are no service stations andvery few, if any, other travelers)

Another driving excursion is around the western end of the island (beyondKaanapali) if it isn't raining.  Some parts of the road are dirt andafter a while you can't make it up some hills if muddy.  Remote butwith super scenery.  Road only one car width in many areas.

Sights To Visit:
Check out the Westin Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Hotels in Kaanapali. The landscaping is outstanding!  While in Kaanapali, eat at Leilani'snext door to the Westin.   Make a reservation for just beforesunset; request a table outside. Also the Grand  Wailea Hotel &Four Seasons in Wailea have fabulous grounds, waterfalls, etc.

Iao Needle near Wailuku.  Picturesque setting of waterfalls, rapids and  lush vegetation.

Maui Ocean Center by the Maalaea Yacht Harbor.  This isMaui's newest addition.  At this  Hawaiian Aquarium you can viewSharks, Eels, Sting Rays, living Coral and a multitude of the many othercolorful local tropical fish.

Whale Watch.  If whale season (late Dec. to mid-Apr.), takea boat ride to photograph them up close. You can leave from Maalaea. Whales can also be seen from the Condo lanai and  sometimes dolphins, rays and turtles.

Haleakala. Drive to the top of this volcano.  Be there beforesunrise for best effect.  Take sweater/coat, long pants, etc.--warmclothes as it's 10,029 ft. and very cold. Change to lighter clothes about 1/4 way down the mountain.  On a clear day you can see mostof the Hawaiian Islands.  The crater looks like the surface of themoon.  (If you don't wish to get up at the crack of dawn, considergoing to Haleakala for the evening sunset...no one will ever know it wasn'ttaken in the early morning!)

Bicycle Down Haleakala: There are two companies offering the34 mile all down hill bike ride.  They pick you up at the condo, takeyou to the top of Haleakala, guide you back down the mountain and thenreturn you to the condo.  Their charge is about $85. per  personand includes lunch, windbreaker,  bike helmet and the special bikes. We've heard that Bob's Downhill is the better company.

Tedeschi Winery in the Kula Up Country area may be of interest.

Lahaina.  Shop and browse this old whaling, historical town;it's a real tourist attraction not only for it old quaintness but its typicalT-shirt shops, art galleries, souvenirs, yacht harbor, etc.  You'llsee the old sailing vessel Balcutha.  Also, there is the train ridethrough the sugar cane fields near Lahaina.

Sunset & Dinner Cruises. Maalaea Yacht Harbor and Lahainaoffer dinner cruises.

Deep Sea Fishing out of Maalaea or Lahaina is supposed to begreat. ( Pricey).

Golf  There are 16 golf courses on Maui of which six arewithin five miles of The Sugar Beach Resort.  The public courses (Silversword, etc.) are less expensive than the pricey resort courses in Wailea, Makena, Kaanapali and Kapalua.

Helicopter & Airplane tours are very good.  We can vouchfor the comments of our friends when they exclaim how much that they haveloved them and have come home with incredible pictures!  We took thecomplete circle island tour including the west Maui mountains, Hana, andHaleakala with a mid morning stop for champagne on the Blue Hawaii Helicopters.(they even included a video tape of the flight)

Last but not least, the many great restaurants, Luaus and dinnercruises.
