RC Links

While you're out on the internet, you might as well visit some other Radio Control sites that our members have found valuable. Below are a list of links, in no particular order, that you might find interesting. If you have a personal favorite that you so not see listed below, send me a link here and I'll get them posted.

Individual Websites and Bulliten Boards

Airfield Models One of the best all around RC building sites on the internet is Airfield Models. Managed by Paul Johnson - one heck of a builder. A warning, though ... once you click on Airfield's logo be prepared to spend some serious time digesting the great information on this site.

RC Universe This site has one of the most active bulliten boards on the internet. You can check out their forurm for all sorts of information. Of course, you have to sift through all sorts of opinions but there is a wealth of knowledge here if you're willing to spend some time here.

RC Scale Builder The site for hardcore scale enthusiasts. There is a very exhaustive forurm on this site that caters specifically to building accurate scale RC aircraft. There are many build threads that are extremely informative on how to turn your next project into a scale masterpiece.

Tom Pierce SBD Site An absolutely incredible web journey that Tom Pierce leads you on as he creates an award winning scale SBD Dauntless. If you ever had an interest in seeing how these scale beauties are created, this is the site for you. Tom shares all his secrets and leaves nothing uncovered. This is a must see site if you're at all interested in scale RC.

RC Groups Forurms Here's a bulliten board site dedicated to all things electric. Very similar to RC Universe except that these message boards are weighted towards the electric flyer. A wealth of information can be found here.

DMAC Site Anyone interested in learning the proper way to control their plane through aerobatic manouvers, just click on the DMAC site logo. Click on their Downloads section on the left pane, and then select Flying Aerobatics Rev3. This is a download for your computer that simply installs web pages to your local machine. You may read the tutorial without being online. Highly recommended.

Indy RC Online This is a local gathering place managed by our own David Smith. Most of the local clubs are represented here; and this is a great place to frequent in order to socialize with just those flyers from the Indianapolis area. Highly recommended.

RC Hangout This national board is also managed by David Smith and offers an alternative general aviation themed forum from the "other guys". This board, while less busy than the bigger more nationally known boards, offers a good midwestern atmosphere, yet contains broad reaching opinions from global participants. I recommend giving this board a try - you might find that you enjoy the change of pace - I did.

Web Stores

Tower Hobbies The heavyweight of online Radio Control sales. Owned by Great Planes, they carry a very wide selection of products. They specifically stock Great Planes, Top Flite, Futaba and Sig but have other brands as well. If you're looking for Hangar 9, JR or Saito, this is not the place to look as they are competitive products (look at Horizon below). This vendor comes highly recommended as their customer service is top notch.

Horizon Hobby The other heavyweight in the online industry. Employee owned, they are the online distributor for most things that you cannot find at Tower - JR, Saito, E-Flite, Hangar9. Once again, this is an excellent vendor and highly recommended.

Hobby Lobby International If you're in the market for electric, here's your place. Hobby Lobby has a fantastic reputation for quality and customer service. They are located in TN, so they are close and your product arrives in only a couple of days. They also have a weekly sale called "Crash" where they place an item on sale and when it's out of stock the sale is over. If you're interested the sale is every Wednesday at 9AM. See the website for details.

Hobby People I have personally never purchased from Hobby People, but several in the club have. I have heard good things about them. If you've purchased from them and recommend them, please shoot me a message here.

Hobby People I have personally never purchased from BP Hobbies, but several in the club have. They are based in New Jersey and I have heard good things about them. They specialize in Hitec, GWS, Blue Arrow and many other "Electric Centric" items. If you've purchased from them and recommend them, please shoot me a message here.

Chief Aircraft Another online vendor that specializes in ARF distribution, but also has radios and some accessories. I do not believe their inventory is as expansive as some of the "heavyweights" above, but they do carry a wide range of unique planes too. They are definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a unique ARF that won't likely show up at the field.

Advantage Hobby This relatively new e-tailer combines the best of Horizon Hobby and Tower Hobby as they carry brands from each. New customers receive a 5% discount so be sure to place a big order to begin with.
