Hoosier Open Tournaments announce creation of "H.O.T Seniors" weekday circuit


 

Circuit aimed at fisherman over 50
 
H.O.T annouced the creation of a seniors circuit aimed at fisherman 50 years ond older. There will be six qualifing events and a two day classic. Tournaments will be fished during the week with entry fees set at $130 per team. Jeff and Terri Rude will be the tournament directors. Brouchers will be mailed to all participants from the 07 season and will include the H.O.T seniors entry forms. Contact H.O.T for more information. pjolly3@verizon.net or call 812-883-6259

2008 Standings

Brad Moser Wins Bassfan Weekend Warrior Championship !
For the second time in its three year history. A hoosier angler has won the BassFan Weekend Warrior Championship.  Brad Moser of New Albany won the two day event by 9 ounces. Earning $25,000 and the title of Weekend Warrior Champion. Brad qualified by winning the Hoosier Open's season points title with partner Kelly Hook who also competed in the event. 


Boyd and Fye Win Hoosier Open's second Event at Patoka !

Patoka,  Allen Boyd and Rich Fye have won the H.O.T tournament at Patoka. Sacking 24.36 lbs. While  second place went to the team of Shane and Steve Mitchell with 23.54 lbs. .
Weigh 24 pounds six bass limit for the win.

Eicher and Vandeventer Win Season Opener at Patoka !
Paul Jolly said it best ! "for 40 days and 40 nights (seems like it), 266 fishermen (two by two) boarded their Arks to ride out the storm and hopefully catch a few bass along the way"  Ron Eicher of Clarksville and Norman Vandeventer of Lafayette managed to catch six bass weighing 24.78 lbs. and winning $ 4650.00.



Ron and Norm caught their fish casting tubes and jigs to cover 5 – 6 feet deep.  Finishing a distant but well earned second place Justin Brown and Josh Heeke caught four bass weighing 15.39 lbs and bringing home a check for $ 2245.00. And in third place with six bass weighing 15.03 lbs was the team of Mike Cummings and JD Flowers they caught their fish flipping jigs to flooded bush tops six feet deep and won $1450.00.  The next tournament is scheduled for April 13th at Patoka.

And in third place Larry Haag and Rex Webb with 21.50 lbs. Big Bass went to the team of Curt Brinkman and Larry Heichelbech weighing 6.96 lbs

Hoosier Open Anglers Visit Rocky Point !
The third qualifing event of 2008 now in the books
Rocky Point, H.O.T anglers made their first visit of 2008 to the Ohio River Sunday.  Ninety three teams were on hand vying for the the win . But, the team of Dave Favors and Alan Scott were the lucky victors.
They weighed in a six bass limit totaling 13.27lbs. and winning $3660.00 for their efforts. The team of Dustin and Tim Vaal were second with six bass weighing 13.01lbs. And, in third place was the team of Jody and Tony Pierce they also had a six bass limit that included the big bass weighing 4.93lbs. for a total weight of 12.15 pounds. Bloomington, H.O.T anglers made their first visit of 2008 to the Lake Monroe Sunday.  Ninety teams were on hand vying for the the win . Bassindy.com spoke with several teams fishing the event and all reported that the current high water conditions they were facing shouldn't be a problem.


                

                  

As most reported catching nice bass out of Monroe's flooded bushes. Eric Johnson of Columbus and John Voyles of Petersburg teamed together to catch an impressive limit of six bass weighing 21.80 lbs. Which included the Big Bass of the tournament weighing 6.71 pounds. David Aly of Salem & Travis Elliott of New Albany caught 6 bass weighing 17.23 lbs. Jeff Hurd of Columbus & Lee Mills of North Vernon had 17.01 pounds for third place. The next H.O.T event will also be held at Monroe July 13th. Visit the H.O.T web site for more info

Bloomington, H.O.T anglers made their fifth stop of 2008 at Lake Monroe Sunday.  Eighty teams were on hand vying for the the win. But, Unfortunately could not compete with the team of Robert Gilliland Sr. and Jeff Mitchner ( Mitchner subing for Gilliland Jr.) as the duo weighed an impressive bag of bass weighing twenty nine pounds fifty seven ounces.

                

                  

Weigh an impressive 29.57 pounds for the win.

Their six bass limit did not include any fish weighing over six pounds.

What was equally impressive was the Big Bass of the event caught by the team of Billy Sweet and Jeff Mullen weighing Nine pounds one ounce. The points race continues to heat up as the team of Allen Boyd and Rich Fye moved past Mike Quinlin and Lewis Mallory to take over the points lead by a mere four points heading into the last tournament scheduled for Rocky Point, August 24th..
