David C.
Hall, a well-known Eb keyed bugle player and bandleader formed the
firm of D. C. Hall, Boston in 1861. In 1862, after being in a
one-year partnership with J. Lathrop Allen. The firm under Hall’s
name lasted for just one year. From September of 1865 until 1876,
he was in partnership with Benjamin and George Quinby making brass
instruments under the name of Hall & Quinby Co and left the
partnership to open up his own business until 1880.
