Manufactured by H.B. Dodworth, New York, ca
1860. Nickel Silver with 3 string actuated rotary valves. The Dodworth
(family) Music Store on Broadway did not manufacture any instruments, but
purchased them from other sources for sale in their store. They had the
factory where the instruments were made to put their name on the
instruments. This was a common practice and the instruments were called
"stencil" instruments. This horn was probably made at the Stratton factory.
The horn is 56 3/4" in length and the Bell diameter is 11". A shield on the
side of the horn just before the Bell Flare states "H.B.Dodworth NY". |
