Olde Towne Brass
Olde Towne Brass performs in the manner of Early American and Civil War bands, playing original Civil War Music on actual Civil War Over-The-Shoulder (OTS) Brass Horns. With their special emphasis on the War Between the States, Olde Towne Brass presents programs that provide their listeners with history and information about the composer and the song. Their renditions of these timeless and compelling tunes are played just as they were more than 135 years ago. The music library of Olde Towne Brass includes over 4000 songs of both the Confederate and Union Bands which has been compiled from various resources across the country including the Library of Congress and the Museum of the Confederacy.

Olde Towne Brass has had the
honor and privilege to work with the renowned documentary
director Ken Burns in some of his recent productions. Olde Towne
Brass recorded music for Burn’s production honoring the tireless
work of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony in the
documentary titled "Not for Ourselves Alone". This work appeared
on PBS in November 1999. Olde Towne Brass also arranged and
recorded special music for Mr. Burn's 10-part series "Jazz",
which aired in January 2001.
Olde Towne Brass appeared in the Peridot Pictures production "American Drummer Boy". It is the story of a 12-year-old boy caught up in the Civil War. Filmed in Kentucky, Olde Towne Brass played the part of the 14th Kentucky U.S. Regimental Band and the part of the 11th Mississippi C.S. Regimental Band.
Olde Towne Brass served as co-hosts of the 2000 and 2003 National Civil War Band Festivals, held in Campbellsville, Kentucky. These triennial events feature Civil War bands from all across our nation. Dr. Frederick Fennell has been the Guest of Honor at the Festivals.
When not performing at historical events, Olde Towne Brass performs at weddings, receptions, parties and special events. Their music library includes over 300 arrangements appropriate for any occasion. Music styles include Baroque, Classical, Swing, Jazz, Dixieland, and Popular.
