Here Are My Hands – An Activity with a Book

Materials:
Here Are My Hands by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault
chart paper
markers
camera and film
plain paper
glue
construction paper
stapler
- Read Here Are My Hands to the children. Talk with them about other things their hands can do.
- Write each child’s name on a piece of chart paper. Ask each child to tell the group one thing his hands can do and write his response next to his name on the chart.
- Take pictures of each child doing the activity he said his hands can do.
- After you get the pictures developed, glue each one to a separate sheet of paper. Underneath each photo, write what the child said he could do with his hands.
- Staple all of the pages together with a sheet of construction paper in front. Write “Here Are My Hands” on the cover.
- Read the book with the children, and then place it in the class library so they can read it when they desire.
