This 320-page book offers everything you need for a successful year. There are ideas for centers, circle time, bulletin boards, arts & crafts, manipulatives, songs, poems, fingerplays, classroom management, seasonal ideas and much more.
1. In the Movies: Prior to family night, make a video showing children engaged in typical classroom activities. Be sure to capture each child on the video as well as the activities that take place in each of your centers and in the outside environment. During your family night, turn off your TV's volume and play the video continuously. As parents enjoy the show, use this opportunity to point out the process and play-based learning taking place.
2. Oh, That Song!: It's likely that parents have heard youngsters' favorite class songs at home. It's also likely that they've heard incomplete versions of those songs! On large sheets of chart paper, write the words to your class's favorite songs. Have children add illustrations to the charts. If parents are visiting with their children, encourage them to refer to the charts so that they can sing along with their youngsters' favorite songs.
