Sample Activity 2

Envelope Puppet - A Quick Trick With A Used Envelope

Gather These Materials

Where: at a table

How: Have each child glue shut the flap on his envelope. Slit one narrow end of the envelope. Have each child put his envelope face-down on the table with the slit at the bottom. Have him use the remaining materials to make eyes, mouth, ears, and other features, then decorate the envelope to look like a person or animal. Help the children slip their hands into the decorated, slit envelopes, and encourage them to create spontaneous puppet shows of conversation between their puppets.

Variation:

This activity helps children learn about names of facial features and body parts and it also encourages creative thinking.
