Bill's Place

Astronomy

Astronomy along the Colorado Front Range can be challenging at best.  The mountain air wave makes it rare to have "good" viewing.  Most of the time it just barely rates "mediocre."  There is now a lot of smoggy haze and light pollution to add to the problems.  However, several of the pictures here have been taken from in town, so all is not lost.

Been playing with the SBIG ST-8E for a couple years now.  Learn something new every time I take it out.  Mostly that it makes for a long night sitting and waiting for the camera to do it's thing.  Most the time I prefer to shoot in the backyard so I can go inside and watch a ball game or surf the Web or something, while the camera and computer do their things.
