Modeling the Midwest, Enjoying the Rockies
The following clinics were developed by Patrick G. Lana, MMR and were presented at National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) national, regional and local events. If you are interested in having one or more of these clinics presented at your model railroad event, please send me an E-mail to pglana'at'comcast.net replacing the 'at' with @. This is being done as a protection against spam.
A Clinic on Modeling Agriculture
In this clinic I’ll show some of the many faces of agriculture -- in different seasons and regions of the US -- but mostly in the Midwestern summer. I’ll discuss some of my favorite methods of modeling Midwest agriculture including research and modeling of crops, livestock, buildings and machinery. The majority of time will be spent on modeling N scale crops like corn, soybeans, and hay. Although I model in N scale these concepts will work in other scales.
This clinic handout is available in the 2001 ST. Louis NMRA national convention clinic book.

Planning and Building the Crandic Route
This clinic covers the planning and construction of the new N scale Cedar River and Iowa Central Railway (the Crandic Route), an operating pike set in the Midwest and controlled by DCC. Planning topics include my layout design process and standards. A summary of lighting, benchwork, trackwork, electrical and scenery construction methods are presented.
This clinic handout is available in the 2003 Toronto NMRA national convention clinic book.
