7Gates: That You Might Know Thyself
Ground Zero
we are a population of derelicts
occupied and... edified
one among many
busy being themselves
ourselves myself
my////selves
degenerate and ugly in our dereliction
but wellschooled in the dissembling arts
on the outside
MAYA
billboard mentality reigning
in the soul
we are a starving blemished people
in spite of the mighty wondrous heroisms
of Battle Creek Michigan
the Department of Health Education and Welfare
and the Pope
our faces we ruin with drink and sorrow
our lives ... damned
if we care, damned if we don't
a thoughtful being
(one likely to gather while others reap)
is a rare acquisition
where son of Gatling gun pimps for daughter of Klieg light
the teat glass and otherwise
we pick and choose from such a sophisticated and diverse
stock of cheap moves
predigested
does the blue indeed go with the real me
automation and the canily brayed knowledge explosion
too busy consuming trivia to think
the imerative know thyself
an ontology more than a method
ineffectively in pursuit of happiness
a thin rocky ground for thought.
