29 Sep 1954, New York, New York, USA --- The 1954 World Series gets off to a start here with the first pitch for a ball, as Sal Maglie missed the outside corner with a curve. The batter is Al Smith, Cleveland left fielder. Wes Westrum is the catcher and the umpire is Al Barlick.
