I disagree with Skwire on comparison-contrast subjects. He suggests comparing and contrasting high school and college, for example. I think that's apples and oranges, a contrast that's so extreme that it's not worth writing about, like proving that San Francisco is more exciting than Alamo or that Pavorotti sings better than Willie Nelson. Contrast San Francisco with Los Angeles or Willie Nelson with Merle Haggard or Alan Jackson. Contrast Miramonte with Acalanes, DVC with another community college, SF State with Hayward. The more similar two items are, the easier it is to write a fair paper about them
