The Saturn Radio Group is an amateur radio club consisting of men and women located mainly in the greater Chicago area. We share a common interest of comradship and amateur radio. We have retired folks, called "geezers", younger working folks like you, and some still in school. Our occupations run from hourly laborer to the professional and medical ranks. We have business owners, computer jocks, and high level business managers. All are welcome.

There are NO regular meetings, no officers, president, or when we do meet, any business meeting. Our goal is to avoid all meeting formalities so as to get to the real opportunity of visisting and sharing lies, jokes and general good will.

The Saturn Radio Group does maintain a UHF repeater located at a choice location in downtown Chicago. It provides coverage over the entire Chicago land area....and into Michigan. The purpose of the repeater is to provide emergency communications for the Chicago area. Further, it aids in coordinating member's efforts to find the next meeting location. Who knows when and where it will be !!

This radio group is based in the Chicago area. It features a fun loving and (for some) beer drinking gang of hams with widely varying interests. Our goal is to enjoy each other's company sharing a common bond of amateur radio. Operating and technical talk is secondary to the bonding that occurs at irregularly scheduled meetings.

The Saturn Group has NO AFFILIATION with any motor car, motor car manfuacturer, or interest group. We are Saturn, because we watch the STARS.

Read about the VOA event!

A fascinating event the Saturn Radio Group did was to operate our amateur radio radios at the Voice of America (VOA) site at Bethany, Ohio. This site near Dayton Ohio is scheduled to be dismantled in the very near future. Our group took the opportun ity to receive permission and spend a day at the site. This event was chronicled in QST in the October, 1996 issue on page 50. For more details about this very unique event click on the prompt below.
