Late Lament
Graeme Edge
1967

Cold-hearted orb that rules the night, removes the colors from our sight. Red is gray and yellow white; but we decide which is right and which is an illusion. Pin-prick holes in a colorless sky, let incipid figures of light pass by. The mighty light of ten thousand suns challenges infinity and is soon gone. Nighttime, to some a brief interlude. To others the fear of solitude. Brave Heroes, wake up your steeds. Bring the warmth the countryside needs. Breathe deep the gathering gloom. Watch lights fade from every room. Bed-sitter people look back and lament another day's useless energy spent. Impassioned lovers wrestle as one. Lonely man cries for love and has none. New mother picks up and settles her son. Senior citizens wish they were young. Cold-hearted orb that rules the night. Removes the colors from our sight. Red is gray and yellow white; but we decide which is right. And which IS an illusion?

A different 'Moody Blues' MIDI file plays on each page of this web site. At the bottom of each page, I noted the song title, the album title the song was featured in and the year 'The Moodies' released the music.

Incidentally, August 17, 1999, The Moody Blues released "Strange Times", their first new studio album in, at that time, eight years. It's wonderful! The poetry, 'Nothing Changes', that heads the main page of this web site is an excerpt from it. Album information and customer reviews are available at: Amazon.com, 'Strange Times' Information

Autumn of 2003, the Moodies released, what may have been their final studio album, "December". It is a very nice mix of Justin Hayward and John Lodge compositions, and old standards, dealing with Winter and, more specifically, Christmas. Though extremely mellow, it is nice to see that this album, if it is to be their last, was one of a conceptual nature.

MIDI selection for this page: "Nights In White Satin" (From "Days Of Future Passed", 1967). Poetry selection for this page: "Late Lament" (From "Days Of Future Passed", 1967)
