This volume will show direct descent from John¹ LOVEJOY, earlier settler of Andover, Massachusetts, and will include all the maternal lines designated (a), (b), (c), etc., listed below. Major surnames are included in Volume I through volume XVI (II thru XVI -TBD).

Surnames to be included in this volume will begin with the latest female line in the LOVEJOY lineage that is not covered by a separate volume. Related families in this volume are shown in chronological order of marriage to a LOVEJOY. These are shown in detail in Section II of the volume, as indexed below.

Where known, the generation of each person from his/her original settler is given after the name in superscript (John³). Each individual listed is given a number for the sake of clarity, before the name. Generations in the country of origin will be given with the initial of the country preceding the generation number, beginning with the first known generation.
