This volume will trace the descent of my maternal grandmother, Mabel Constance Rogan, from her ancestors in Ireland.  Not very much material has been found on this or related families.  Much of it came from her Bible and the recollections of family members. Enough information exists, however, to warrant this separate volume, and the research to add to the data found here goes on.

Please forgive the bareness of this section. It is my hope that by publishing what little I do know, I can solicit additional data from web searchers of genealogy. If anyone reading this has anything that could be related, please feel free to email me. It will be greatly appreciated.

I will list the earliest ancestor as ¹  in order to maintain some consistency with the other families listed in my pages. This will be extended as I learn more.

1. THOMAS ROGAN¹, son of ________; born ca 1798, possibly at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland. He married ca 1850, probably at Ennis Crone to Elisa CAWLEY.  Either Thomas or Elisa reportedly died in 1873.

2. ROBERT², b. 20 Mar 1850, at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; m. ca 1900 to Winifred LYDON, possibly in Cambridge

2. ROBERT ROGAN², son of THOMAS¹, born ca 1850, at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland. (According to cousin Robert Connolly (son of Ann Rogan #12 below),  Robert may have come from Barrackstown, suggesting an English army base, and possible English origins.)  He married before 1870, probably at Ennis Crone to Anne McDERMOTT (b. 27 SEP 1837 to either James or John (1806-1864) McDERMOTT of Carrowgarry or Dooneen, and Catherine( or Nancy) MILES originally from Emmlimron, Castleconnor Parish). Listed in 1901 and 1911 Census indicating they had 12 children, 8 who were still living;

5. JAMES³, b. at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland. Emigrated to U.S. when quite young; married at age 40; had 13 children, the youngest being Arthur J. Rogan, who became a priest in CA; other children, daughters supposedly moved to Braintree, MA then CA near Loma Lynda. 

6. TRICIA³, b. at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; d. at Lawrence, MA.

7. ALICE³, b. at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; m. ___ Coleman, in Ireland; d. in Ireland.

8. HARRY³, b.at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; was an Executive for John Hancock Insurance in Detroit, Michigan; d, in California.

9. THERESA³, b. at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; m. ____ Wyman; d. Lawrence, MA (supposedly at 106 yrs of age).

10. JOHN³, b. at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; a Brooklyn College Professor and a lawyer.

          13. EILEEN⁴, b. probably born in County Sligo, Ireland;  m. Christy Dowd ; had several children and lived in Ennoiscrone.

14. MARTIN⁴, b. probably born in County Sligo, Ireland; m. _______; has son Robert; living on family farm originally owned by the MILES family, in Carrowgarry, Enniscrone, County Sligo.

15. ROBERT⁴, b. probably born in County Sligo, Ireland;  m. _______ ; has four children; living in Dublin.

4. THOMAS FITZGERALD³, son of ROBERT², b. 20 Mar 1870, at Ennis Crone, County Sligo, Ireland; emigrated to U.S. , arrived at New York on 15 May 1892; m. ca 1900 to Winifred LYDON, dtr of John LYDON and Mary CURRAN of Spiddal, County Galway, Ireland, possibly in Cambridge, MA; retired as a Sales Representative for John Hancock Insurance; d. 14 Aug. 1942 at Cambridge, MA. Buried in the Cambridge City Cemetery.

17. MARION⁴, b. at Cambridge, MA; m. Jack Phelps; d. Sep 1950 at Phillipstown, Toronto, Canada. The family legend has it that Marion became ill while the family had returned to Ireland on a visit and had to left behind in the care of her aunt Alice (Rogan) Coleman. For one reason or another she was unable to reunite with her family.  She emigrated to Canada, married, and was able to attend her mother's funeral in 1955.

18. ROBERT JOSEPH⁴, b. probably in Ireland; m. Ann ____; a U.S. Veteran of WWI; was last known in a Bedford, MA Veteran's Hospital. 

19. MABEL CONSTANCE⁴, b. 28 Dec 1905 at Cambridge, MA; m. Arthur Joseph BOLDUC, son of Raoul BOLDUC and Leah CANTIN, on 22 Dec 1929 at Somerville, MA; d. 12 Jan 1970 at Milford, MA.; buried at Cambridge Catholic Cemetery.
