Some of the things that have happened in my smithy:

First, make a really hot fire enough to get the steel up around 2150 degrees farenheight or so...

The watering can is used to save fuel by limiting the fire to the firepot and to help the "coking" process by creating steam

a poker is used to check to see if the iron is hot enough yet
"Hello in there, are you hot enough yet?"

hot enough for now...

And now to forge some tongs...

because using these adjustable pliers for tongs really sucks...
...as does using this eensie-twinky 55 pound jewelers anvil I've since obtained a real one

It actually took me four tries to get the tongs right

sometimes I have an audience
