Candidate’s Biography
My
name is William R. "Bill" Bernetich.
I am an Attorney, Certified Public Accountant and Masters of Taxation.
For the past ten years, I have practiced these disciplines in
I
am the father of three great children and am an involved parent. I have served as president of my local PTA, I
am familiar with the issues facing parents of children in school. From too few books to too little daycare,
issues facing parents are of major concern to me.
Last
fall, I coached my son's soccer team to an undefeated record. But my proudest accomplishment was that all
team members were involved in the success of the season. At our end of season party, I was able to
commend each and every child because of their efforts. I have drawn from my experience as a coach by
emphasizing teambuilding and setting clear-cut, achievable goals.
I
have operated my own firm for the last 12 years after working in the fields for
10 years. I am familiar with the issues facing business having advised
businesses for the last 20 years especially small business, where
over-regulation and over-reporting requirements adversely affect such businesses.
I
heartily supports the GOP vision that "Solutions to problems cannot be
found in a pool of bitterness. They can be found in an environment in which we
trust one another's word; where we generate heat and passion, but where we
recognize that each member is equally important to our overall mission of
improving the life of the American people.
The four-part common-sense agenda Hastert outlined that day for the
106th Congress - lowering taxes, improving education, strengthening Social
Security and Medicare, and bolstering national defense. Under his leadership,
the 106th Congress balanced the budget for the fourth year in a row; paid down
an historic amount of public debt ($625 billion); locked away 100% of Social
Security and Medicare dollars to be spent solely on Social Security and
Medicare - not other government programs; sent more education dollars and
decision-making to local classrooms; stepped-up and enhanced medical research;
and worked to revitalize low-income neighborhoods in urban and rural areas. --
proved to be such a success that in November 2000, the American voters elected
another Republican majority to the House."
I
chose to run for Congress so that others might benefit from my experience,
education and commitment.
