This web page is my way of thanking Dean, and rewarding him for maintaining his ethics in a community and industry where excessive competition and relative poverty force many others to forget their ethics. In addition, I regard Dean as a true and special friend. On my last visit, I was recovering from an illness and I was touched by his sincere concern for my well-being. Also, I am confident that if this web site results in a bit of extra business for him, every cent will go towards things like a better education for his children etc and definitely not on alcohol or gambling.

INTRODUCTION - What is your most

important asset in a foreign country?

In a foreign country, your guide / driver is definitely your most important asset (except for money of cause). He (or she) has more influence on the success of your holiday (or business trip) than any other factor. A lazy driver can waste your time, an unethical driver can rip you off or take advantage of you in so many ways. And most importantly, if you don't have full confidence and trust in your driver, and you are like me, it's a lot more difficult to relax and have a good time, constantly being on guard. A good driver will act in 'your' best interest at all times and help you avoid unpleasant situations etc.

What Sets Dean Apart From Other Drivers?

Firstly, like almost every Balinese person, Dean greets you with a glowing happy face. However, I have learned that he is a genuinely happy person who is devoted to making a better life for his family, yet at the same time, he is very appreciative of what he has. His constantly pleasant nature rubs off on you, which adds to the pleasure of your holiday.

More Than Just a Driver...

Not only will Dean be you driver and tour guide, he is happy to provide the following extras:

·Run general errands like delivering documents etc.

· Miscellaneous shopping like soft drinks (to stock up the mini-bar) or snacks to have in your hotel room etc.

· Organise a local SIM card for your mobile phone.

· Handle your currency exchange requirements (at good rates from reputable dealers) and bring you all reciepts.

· Assistance with language difficulties in your dealings with the locals. Note, I don't think he will specifically barter for you, which is half the fun of shopping anyhow, but he will give you a guide beforehand as to what is a fair price to pay. This language assistance can be very important.

PLEASE NOTE: This web page was orginally written and constructed by Mr. Paul Taylor of Australia, and was slightly edited and reformatted by Dr. Bob Kamei of the United States to post on another web server for Dean. Bob has also added some of his own comments on the web page and these are individually identified. Otherwise, assume the text in this web site comes from Paul. Neither Paul, Bob nor any web site, have or seek to, receive any form of reward from Dean for providing these pages other than perhaps the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from doing the right thing for a deserving fellow human being.
